Almost spring – again. Time for me to shed the old fur frock of the winter and grow the lightweight tracky for the summer. Nothing worse than being too hot. Actually I stick my head in the horse trough if it’s too hot or lie in a patch of mud. But, I have to say, Mistress does not appreciate that - or my fur floating along the wooden floors. Myself - I don’t mind, some people have carpet for their dogs to lie on… Anyway the cats chase the blobs when a draught blows them across the floor and then look embarrassed when they catch them and pretend to clean their tails so that I’ll think they knew all along it wasn’t a mouse. I thought cats had more sense.
Growing my new coat is like having new clothes for a human, I guess. Mistress says that different clothes make you feel like a new person then as soon as she’d said it she dived onto the computer thing to write a story about a kid who put on a different hat or piece of clothing each day and became that person – y’know – space helmet makes him or her an astronaut and the kid is suddenly weightless in space for a day. She had more ideas too.
Here’s an idea for a story:
I’m the kid with the magic wardrobe – is it full of clothes to take you into another life, another dimension? Or, is it the wardrobe itself that takes you on adventures to different lands, different times? Can you pick what to wear from the clothes that hang in there?
I swapped places with the dog / cat/ rabbit / any other creature, for a day – You suddenly find yourself wearing fur – fur that’s growing on you and what’s more your voice has changed, you can speak a new language and you are longing for some dog biscuits / cat treats / carrots and corn. How do your adults react?
The hat of power – You have been given an extraordinary hat that proves to have fantastically weird powers, powers that blow your mind, powers that no one believes possible. What are they? What can you do, what do you do when you wear the hat?
